Since December first the Caps are Sixth in the league in goals per game and the Wings are damn near in the basement (31st). Defensively they Caps have been pretty darn good as well giving up 2.5 GPG. Detroit’s been cold, 1.4 GPG in their last 5. Meanwhile, Washington is scoring 4+ in their last 5. Ride that trend

Edmonton Oilers @ Nashville Predators
In case you can’t tell, I’m big on current trends, some would call that recency bias, I call it analytics. Again, using the month of December as a sample size, Edmonton is 3rd in the league in goals for, Nashville 30th. Usually, I play the Edmonton’s poor team defense allows other teams to score card, but Nashville flat out hasn’t been scoring, and Edmonton has been allowing 3 GPG in December, under their season average. Ipso Facto, they’re playing better defense as of late against a team who can’t score. Lock it up.

New York Islanders @ Colorado Avalanche
This one is the closest game of the three for me, but the value of the Islanders at plus money is too hard to pass up. A very even match up, the Islanders have been the better offensive team lately, Colorado has a slight edge defensively. I’m sticking to the money line but riding with the value.
