Green Bay Packers (4-8) @ Chicago Bears (3-9)
Key Injury Watch:
GB- OUT: (OT) David Bakhtiari DOUBTFUL: (S) Darnell Savage
CHI- OUT: (S) Jaquan Brisker, (CB) Kyler Gordon, (OT) Larry Borom
Some say this matchup is the biggest rivalry in the NFL, but the outcome of this one is unlikely to impact the playoff picture. The Bears are last in the NFC, and the 3 teams ranked directly above the 11th ranked Packers could all get easy wins this week. The Bears’ and Packers’ combined seventeen losses is tied for the most in matchup history (same in1969 and 1973).
The difference-maker in this matchup will be Bears BQ Justin Fields’ status (likely to participate), and whether he can play through a couple inevitable rough tackles. Fields has a separated non-throwing shoulder with partially torn ligaments but has fully participated in multiple practices this week. But is he ready to take a live hit? He will be going against an extremely weak Packers defense who have given up over 400 yards in their last three games straight.
Chicago is down a starting left tackle in Larry Borom. Fields, a well-known running QB is going hit the ground a few more times that he would like. The Bears are already looking on to next year. I see Aaron Rodgers taking down his archrival a second time this season and getting some momentum to finish the season stronger than it started.
