Listen, I’m not going to sugar coat it, tonight is not a great board across the league. I’m a big value guy typically, and I just don’t see any juice worth the squeeze tonight. As depressing as that is, it gets worse. There is also not a lot of offense to be had on the board tonight. The band Creed once asked, “Can you take me higher?” If that question was related to goals scored in tonight’s games, the answer would be most likely No.
Ottawa Senators @ New York Rangers
Not a lot to get to here, gonna be a rock fight. We have a big enough sample size by now, and both teams combined GF/G (6.05) and GA/G (6.15) is under 6.5. Cam Talbot expected to get the start tonight for Ottawa. His Win/Loss record isn’t great, but a 2.57 GAA and .918 SV% is pretty solid. He played against the Rangers last week and faced 36 shots, giving up 3 goals (under the team average GA/G on the year). In that game, the Senators scored 0 goals. Save your ambiens and tune into this one before bed.
PICK: OTT/NYR U6.5 (-110)
Nashville Predators @ New York Islanders
The Preds snuck out an impressive win in New Jersey last night. Playing back to back nights isn’t good for the offense, that typically struggles anyway coming in 4th from the bottom in GPG. Add that to the fact the Islanders are a top 5 team in goals against and this one should be another snooze fest. The over at 6 is sort of appealing but I don’t think it will be in danger on the Island tonight.
PICK: NSH/NYI U6 (-120)
Columbus Blue Jackets @ Winnipeg Jets
If you’re still reading, and awake for this game, good for you. You deserve to be rewarded. I can’t blame if you don’t think watching Columbus and Winnipeg is a reward, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. After watching the first two games of the night, this one is a thing of beauty when it comes to goals. We have the over at 6.5. Both expected starting goalies have SV% under .900. Columbus gives up over 4 goals per game. Expect a high flying, ugly hockey game, but lots of goals (or enough to make some money). This one’s going to be like playing 17 awful holes of golf, and making a birdie on the last. It’ll keep you coming back.
PICK: CBJ/WPG U6.5 (-110)
