Game Preview:
Last place Texans travel to MetLife Stadium to square off with a well-rested NY Giants squad. The Giants are coming off of a bye and are looking to have their entire defensive unit back on the field this Sunday.
Aside from giving up 25 sacks so far this year, the Giants offense has been producing. QB Daniel Jones has been outstanding at making the best of broken pass plays (6 rush attempts per game, averaging nearly 1 TD per game on the ground), while RB Saquon Barkley is third in the NFL for both rushing yards (779) and total yards from scrimmage (968). This weekend against the NFL’s 3rd worst defense I expect the Giants offense to fire on all cylinders.
Houston is having a miserable year despite having a few great pieces. RB Dameon Pierce is 6th in the league in rushing yards (678). WR Phillip Dorsett had a Texans season-high 69 receiving yards a week ago. WR Brandin Cooks has caught 4 or more passes in 6 games this year. However, Cooks has been vocal about his frustration with the season and hasn’t hid the fact that he wants out.
Given the Giants coming off a bye and have a chance to make a statement about their offense this week, I think the Giants alone will put up enough points to put the Over in play.
