    Game Analysis & Picks

The Cardinals roll into Carolina for a Week 4 matchup against the Panthers, pitting two 1-2 teams against each other. The Cardinals have underachieved expectations so far this year, with 4th year QB Kyler Murray looking fairly pedestrian, while the Panthers have more or less been who we thought they were, with Baker Mayfield looking every bit the lost cause that he did towards the end of his tenure in Cleveland.

These two teams also feature very different game plans. The Cardinals have attempted the 2nd most passes in the league through three weeks, while the Panthers have been the exact opposite, attempting the 2nd least passes and featuring a run game anchored by Chirstian McCaffrey. This brings us to the big x-factor for this game, which is the health of CMC.

After missing practice on Wednesday and Thursday, he was an active participant Friday, which suggests that he will be good to go come gameday. If CMC can’t suit up, the Panthers will be toothless, and I would expect Arizona to capitalize on an opportunity to get back to .500 against a weak Carolina team. With CMC in the game, Carolina stands a fighting chance, with Baker also going up against a defense that has mustered zero interceptions, two sacks, and allowed a league worst opposing QB rating of 118.6 in 2022.

This is a fairly important game for Kyler Murray, Kliff Kingsbury and the Arizona Cardinals, and an opportunity to show that the Air Raid offense is still something to be feared. Even on the road, I’m taking Arizona to cover against the spread at just +0.5 (-109), and taking the over for the game at 43.5 (-110) with the expectation that a weak Arizona defense makes Baker Mayfield look serviceable while Murray regains his 2021 form and provides some fireworks for the Cardinals.

    Bonus Props
-Christian McCaffrey (CAR) – Over 61.5 Rushing Yards (-117)
