Liverpool v. Brighton
Liverpool are desperate for a return to form after failing to win a league match in nearly a month. Brighton surprisingly hold the best defensive record in the league having only conceded 5 goals through their opening 6 fixtures, though Liverpool will be their first true test of the season. After a long break I expect Klopp’s men to come out firing in front of their home squad and prove too much for the impressive Seagulls to handle.
Score prediction: Liverpool 3 – 1 Brighton
Palace v. Chelsea
Palace have performed impressively against tough opposition this season, as they generally do, sharing the spoils with Liverpool and giving City a real scare. They’ll look to repeat their form against Chelsea today and with a new manager at the helm in Graham Potter it will be interesting to see how they perform. I expect Chelsea to keep it tight at the back given his track record at Brighton and despite a tough battle think they will take the lead with enough time to secure the victory by notching a second.
Score prediction: Palace 0 – 2 Chelsea
Fulham v. Newcastle
Newcastle have had a mixed start to the season and finds themselves floating around the middle of the table, while Fulham have been impressive and among the top 6, led by Mitrovic. The Magpies are only conceding a goal per game and will know they need to shut down the Fulham talisman to keep things close and they are very capable of doing so. Fulham carry the home field advantage but I give Newcastle the edge on skill, putting the teams on level ground. I’m expecting a tight match here and it’s very likely the two will share the points.
Score prediction: Fulham 1 – 1 Newcastle
Bournemouth v. Brentford
Brentford are averaging an impressive 2 goals per match this season but have only won 1 in their last 3 after falling to a dominant Arsenal squad that sits atop the table. Bournemouth endured a tough start to the season shipping 16 goals in their first 3 matches against City, Arsenal, & Liverpool but have bounced back and haven’t lost in their last 3. Another game where we have a slightly less skilled team playing at home so I expect this to be a tight one as well, but fancy Brentford to walk away with all three points.
Score prediction: Bournemouth 1 – 2 Brentford
