Game Analysis & Picks
The Ravens enter Week 3 after blowing a 21-point lead in the fourth quarter in a 4-point loss to the Dolphins. Granted Baltimore’s depleted secondary was exposed by mainly two receviers running verticals. The offense led by Lamar Jackson was stagnant and looked off-rhythm at crucial times late in the game. If a defense allows four straight scoring drives and your offense can only score a field goal to counter – its not looking promising. Thankfully, the New England Patriots don’t have any real deep threats like Miami. QB Mac Jones isn’t the most elusive & athletic which will allow the Ravens defensive line more opportunities to get in the backfield. Credit to Tua Tagovailoa for extending plays with his athletcism because most of those deep passes came after a few missed sacks.
New England is coming off a 3-point win against the Steelers in a game where the defense came through with three sacks, and special teams forced a muffed punt leading to New England’s final scoring drive. The Patriots have relied on Jones to be a game manager and with a mediocore recvieving core they’ve averaged 222.5 yards per game passing. However, the box score paints a different picture for New England’s scoring woes.
Baltimore has looked like a Super Bowl contender in both first halves this season. This game feels like it will be won in the trenches. However, Baltimore has the star talent led by former MVP Lamar Jackson to impact this game single-handidly. I like Baltimore to bounce back after last weeks loss and cover the (-2.5) with the Under 44.
