Game Analysis & Picks
After a disappointing 3-13 season the Detroit Lions host the new look Philadelphia Eagles. This off-season the Eagles made an addition with former Titans wideout A.J. Brown. Weapons Brown & Devontae Smith put QB Jalen Hurts in a situation to only blossom in his young career. Detroit did have the first pick with Aidan Hutchinson and was featured on HBO: Hard Knocks but with all the glitz and glamour, seeing this young team develop I do not think they have the weapons to compete with Philadelphia. Both teams are heading in different directions with the Lions looking to rebuild and the Eagles competing to win the NFC East. Although they have the number one pick playing defensive end in Hutchinson & a stud running back in Deandre Swift I think the Eagles will be able to limit Detroit’s production. The Eagles roster is healthy and at full strength which makes its hard to fade this team. We all know Week 1 is full of upsets and surprises but Philly is clearly the better team. I don’t think it will be like last year with the Eagles winning 44-6, but expect Philly to break it open in the second half and cover the number comfortably late.
Bonus Prop
A.J. Brown anytime TD scorer. After missing a majority of the 2021 season A.J. Brown decided to request a trade from the Titans on draft night. Brown finished with only 5 touchdowns last season but he was clearly the WR 1 in Tennessee. His ability to extend plays with yards after catch makes those turns those 3 step slants into a fifteen yard first down. With Brown playing the X and Smith in the slot look for Brown to get a few red-zone targets today to welcome him into that Eagles offense.
