Game Analysis & Picks
This game features two prime Comeback Player of the Year candidates, both at the RB position. Saquon Barkley and Derrick Henry, both had their 2021 campaigns cut short but appear to be back to peak form. The hiring of Brian Daboll from Buffalo seems to have energized the Giants this offseason, but they’ll have their hands full against a physical Tennessee team that prides itself on the run game, and winning the battles in the trenches.
Seeing King Henry is worth the price of admission alone, and I think we see an inspired effort from the veteran in his return. The Titans welcomed Robert Woods this offseason who grades out as a top run-blocking WR, and also added big-bodied rookie Treylon Burks to their WR room. These additions bring the Titans a much needed physicality on the perimeter, and mesh well with Mike Vrabel’s blue collar mindset. I’m expecting a big showing from the Titans in their home opener to win by more than a touchdown, which would cover their spread (-5). Tennessee should also rack up enough points to cover the majority of the game total, and I also like the Over (43.5).
Derrick Henry (TEN) Over 98.5 Rushing Yards (-113) – Henry should have more than enough volume to reach this yardage total, and I expect him to tally a 100-yard effort in his first game since Week 8 last season.
Titans Team Total Over 23.5 Points – Henry might make a couple trips to the endzone himself in this one, and Tennessee exceeded this point total in all 5 games that Henry ran for 100+ yards last season.
