Tampa Bay Rays (McClanahan) @ Miami Marlins (Luzardo)
    TB F5 3-way (-129)
    – Shane McClanahan has pitched like an ace this season with a 2.20 ERA over 147 innings along with a dominant 11 K/9. The Rays look to stay hot as they open this series in Miami after winning 7 of their last 10. Jesus Luzardo has been impressive in August with a 2.67 ERA after a stint on the 60 day IL with a forearm injury. Both pitchers are talented and capable of shutting down an opposing offense but the difference in this matchup is the offenses. Over the last 30 days Tampa has been pretty good as the 10th best offense out of 30 clubs with a 110 wRC+ however the Marlins find themselves in dead last over that same stretch with an ugly 68 wRC+. Given the recent offensive disparity here I’m going with the Rays in the first 5 innings and taking TB F5 3-way -129.

Houston Astros (Valdez) @ Texas Rangers (Dunning)
    HOU F5 3-way (-108)-
Astros starter Framber Valdez has the rare skill of being the best ground ball pitcher in baseball while also being able to strike hitters out. His 67.5% ground ball rate is almost 10% higher than the second person on the list while also having almost a 9 K/9. That combination has served him well this year producing a 2.65 ERA over 156 innings. For those keeping score at home, that is the 9th best ERA in baseball and also 9th in total innings pitched- not bad. The Astros offense has been equally impressive this season combining for the 5th best team wRC+ for the year. Dane Dunning has been solid this year with a 4.19 ERA but that includes 2 impressive outings against the Astros. Over 11 innings he limited them to 2 run. Today we’ll see if 3rd time’s the charm for the Astros and if they can figure out Dunning. Overall, I like Valdez and the Astros in this matchup and I’m taking HOU F5 3-way -108.
