Colorado Rockies (Freeland) @ New York Mets (Peterson)
NYM -1.5 (-121) – The Mets snuck one out Friday night against the struggling Rockies winning 7-6. Saturday nights matchup will showcase starters Kyle Freeland and David Peterson. Peterson has clearly out performed Freeland this season, Peterson is 6-3 with a 3.44 ERA while Freeland is 7-8 with an ERA at 4.93. Like we said yesterday the Mets are in must-win games the rest of the season if they want to stay a-top of the NL East. With Atlanta facing another tough game against the Cardinals who have Jordan Montgomery on the mound the Mets need to take full advantage of this series with a poor Rockies team. Let’s continue to roll with the Mets. Take the Mets -1.5 (-121).
Atlanta Braves (Morton) @ St. Louis Cardinals (Montgomery)
STL ML (+102) – Winners of 7 of their last 8 and riding a 4 game winning streak, Atlanta sits only two games behind the Mets in the NL East standings. Unfortunately for the Braves even with Charlie Morton on the mound they have a difficult matchup against the Cardinals and lefty Jordan Montgomery Saturday. Since being dealt from the Yankees, Montgomery has been one of the top pitchers in baseball and he was lights out in his last time out against Chicago. As good as the Braves are they are due for a loss and the Cardinals are one of the toughest teams in the NL. Let’s roll with St. Louis and ride Jordan Montgomery’s hot hand. Take the Cardinals money line (+102) for this matchup.
New York Yankees (German) @ Oakland Athletics (Oller)
Over 8 Runs Scored (-104) – The Yankees have dominated the Athletics winning all 5 games the two teams have had this season. The Yankees are heavily favorited in this one on the money line as well as the run line so the odds really aren’t there for us today, however if you are willing to lay down some money on either it’s not a bad play. The Yankees haven’t had much success against Oller in the 2 and 1/3 innings he’s pitched against them this season, however I think this matchup will be like the 3rd time around the order and the Yankees will get to him early. I see this game being a very high scoring affair and a dominant showing from New York. Let’s take the over 8 Runs scored (-104).
