Chicago White Sox (Cease) @ Baltimore Orioles (Voth)
CWS F5 3-way (-104)- The Orioles have made an amazing surge up the AL East standings since July 1st with the best record in the division over the last two months or so. Today they face a tough test against Dylan Cease who has been great for the White Sox this season. He currently has a 2.09 ERA and 12 K/9 over 133 innings this season. The Orioles counter with Austin Voth who has a 4.86 ERA for the season but has been better the last couple of months since he has converted into a starter from a reliever. Based on the starting pitching matchup tonight I’m going with Cease and the White Sox for the first 5 at -104.
Toronto Blue Jays (Stripling) @ Boston Red Sox (Winckowski)
TOR F5 3-way (-107)- The Red Sox are 6 games behind the Jays this season and find themselves sitting in last place. Tonight they face Ross Stripling who has been great since June 1st, improving his ERA to 2.93 for the season over 89 innings. Josh Winckowski is coming off a rough outing against the lowly last place Pirates where he gave up 6 ER and 5 innings and the Pirates are currently 47-75. Over the last month the Toronto offense has performed better and similar to the previous bet, I’m going with the Blue Jays and Stripling and for them to be winning after the first 5 innings at -107.
Minnesota Twins (Sanchez) @ Houston Astros (Verlander)
HOU SFAW (-114)- There isn’t much more to be said about the year Justin Verlander is putting together in his age 39 season. He has a 15-3 record and 1.95 ERA over 143 innings which puts him 16th out of 150 or so starting pitchers across the league for IP. Tonight the Twins are starting Aaron Sanchez who has made one MLB appearance since May and currently has a 7.68 ERA in 36 innings this season and only pitched 35 innings last year after being a regular starter in the Blue Jays rotation in previous years. The Astros will be a difficult opponent to someone who has been in and out of the big leagues in recent years and because of the the Astros are massive favorites tonight at -305 ML. If you are willing to take a small risk about who scores first you can get the Astros score first and win at -114 which is what I’m doing tonight.
