Cleveland Guardians (Bieber) @ Detroit Tigers (Alexander)
    CLE F5 3-way (-120)-
The Guardians have Shane Bieber going tonight and he has been good this year with a 3.39 ERA over 124 innings with a 2.96 FIP and 9.10 K/9. Today he gets to face the Tigers who have the distinction of having the worst team wRC+ in all of baseball with a sad team 75 wRC+ for the season. If we look at the last 30 and 60 days the Tigers offense has been equally bad. The Tigers counter with Tyler Alexander who has been okay this year with a 4.04 ERA over 42 innings but has a 5.10 K/9 and below average velocity with an average fastball of 90.2 MPH for the year, both of which are career lows. Cleveland saw Alexander less than a month ago but it was only for one inning when he was previously working in more of a relief role. Today I’m rolling with Bieber for the first 5 at -120.

Texas Rangers (Perez) @ Houston Astros (Urquidy)
    HOU F5 3-way (-118)
    – Martin Perez has been great this year with a 9-2 record and 2.47 ERA over 131 innings. One stat to consider is that this collective group of Astros hitters have done well against Perez compared to other teams and have a group batting average against of .304 over 194 plate appearances which seems like a decent sample size. Jose Urquidy is coming off a 2.73 ERA in July and has been solid this year with a 3.62 ERA for the season. The Astros are 21 games ahead of the Rangers this year and I think the Astros have had some success historically against Martin Perez so I am going with the -118 F5 odds of the Astros for the first 5.

Los Angeles Angels (Ohtani) @ Oakland Athletics (Kaprielian)
    LAA F5 3-way (-134) –
Kind of a toilet bowl game here between the Angels and the A’s but not going to get too fancy and taking the odds of going with Ohtani to be the better pitcher for the first 5. The Halos are still without Mike Trout but Ohtani is one of the best pitchers on the planet so this shouldn’t be a hard decision. James Kaprielian is a good pitcher with a first round pedigree out of UCLA but he currently has a 5.20 FIP and 6.01 K/9 this year. If we go back to June 1st both of these teams have embarrassing offensive performances; the A’s are 28th in MLB with a 83 wRC+ and the Angels are dead last with a 75 wRC+. Two bum teams I’m just going with Ohtani to deal and outpitch Kaprielian for the first 5 innings at -134.
