Texas Rangers (Gray) @ Seattle Mariners (Gonzales)
SEA ML (+107) & U8.0 (-109) – Jon Gray has finally emerged as the dominant starter that the Rockies envisioned when they selected him 3rd overall 2013. Perhaps a change of scenery was all he needed, as he has put it all together in his first year with the Rangers. Both starters in this one boast sub-4 ERAs, but Gonzales is looking to bounce back after surrendering 10 ER in his past 2 outings. The Mariners are the better all-around team and are currently locked in the 2nd AL Wild Card spot. I not only like the under (8.0 runs) in this Wednesday matinee, but also the value on the Mariners moneyline (+107) as underdogs.
San Francisco Giants (Webb) @ Arizona Diamondbacks (Gallen)
SF ML (-115) & F5 U4.5 (-125) – These 2 teams are trending in opposite directions at the moment, as the Diamondbacks have won 5 of 6 games, while the Giants have dropped 6-straight. Fortunately for the Giants, they’ll turn to ace Logan Webb who will look to be a much needed stopgap. Webb has been fantastic this season at 9-3 with a stingy 2.77 ERA. Zach Gallen has also been impressive for the Diamondbacks posting a 3.31 ERA, and this should turn into a pitchers’ duel in Arizona. I’m jumping on the first five under (4.5 runs), and the Giants to get the win (-115) with Webb on the hill.
New York Yankees (German) @ New York Mets (Scherzer)
NYY U3.5 (-135) & NYM -1.5 (+125) – The Mets enter this Subway Series matchup as heavy favorites with stud Max Scherzer toeing the rubber against Domingo German, who has struggled mightily in limited work for the Yankees. This has all the makings of a World Series preview, as both teams are Top 5 in runs scored. The Yankees have a stranglehold on the AL East, while the Mets lead the Braves by 2 games in the NL East. This pitching matchup is overwhelmingly in favor of the Mets, and I see value on the Yankees team total under (3.5 runs), and the Mets runline (+125) in the MLB nightcap on ESPN.
