St. Louis Cardinals (Wainwright) @ Cincinnati Reds (Ashcraft)
CIN ML (+125) / CIN F5 3-way (+135) – Adam Wainwright has been pretty good this year with a 3.00 ERA over a robust 111 innings pitched, which is 11th highest innings total so far this year in all of baseball. He has some concerning peripherals this year like a 7.22 K/9 which is down from his career high and a 3.74 FIP. The other interesting statistic is that he has faced this current collection of Reds hitters 166 times which is rare to have such a high number that might be statistically significant and they have a .351 batting average against him. Reds starter Graham Ashcroft has been up and down this year with some difficult recent matchups but tonight I’m going with the upset for the Reds to be leading after 5 and pull out the matchup against Wainwright.
New York Yankees (Taillon) @ Baltimore Orioles (Wells)
NYY F5 3-way (-107) – The Yankees are not favored as heavily as usual tonight at a -157 ML currently. Yankees starter Jameson Taillon rebounded last week with 1 ER over 6 innings vs. the Red Sox after a couple rough starts and looks to build on that success this week. Orioles young starter Tyler Wells has been good this year with a 3.38 ERA but the Yankees got a look at him back in May so we will see if they are able to make any adjustments from that matchup. I’m expecting a rested and refreshed Yankees team to continue on their juggernaut path win in Baltimore tonight and take the value of them to be winning after 5 unless Tyler Wells has his best outing of the season.
Washington Nationals (Corbin) @ Arizona Diamondbacks (Gallen)
ARI F5 3-way ML (-118) / ARI SFAW (+155) – D-backs starter Zac Gallen has been stellar this year with a 3.56 ERA over 17 starts. Patrick Corbin has been far off his usual numbers this year with a disappointing 5.87 ERA so far. Back at Corbin’s career peak in 2018-2019 he had a K/9 in the 10.5-11 K/9 range and now hes down around 8 and BB/9 is up from 2 to 3. In this years his ERA and FIP were also in the 2.5-3.5 range and now they are both double that. I expect the D-backs to be up after 5 and also like the value of them to also score first for +155 so I’m going with ARI F5 3-way -118 and ARI SFAW +155
